No Sound W/ Join Video and AVI
I have joined 2 AVI files togteher but when you play back or even burn to dvd there is no sound. If i seperate the files -- no problem -- there's sound, but if you join them there is none. Any Advice????
Some file formats cause trouble, and "AVI" doesn't tell the whole story. AVI is a "wrapper" or "container" format, and it can contain DV, MPEG, DivX, etc. For example, if your file was downloaded from the Net, it's one of the more compressed variants.
The less-compressed the format, the less potential trouble. AVI/DV almost never causes trouble. The DV format is what you get from a MiniDV camcorder and it takes-up 13GB per hour. DivX and Xvid almost always cause touble!
The same is true of the audio... If your AVI file contains MP3 audio, that could be contributing to the problem.
If you do have a highly compressed format, you may need to use Video Studio or another 3rd-party program to convert the file to a less-compressed fomat before joining them. Super (FREE!!!) can probably convert your file to MPEG-2, but I don't think it can make an AVI/DV file. (Sometimes MPEG-2 causes problems too.)
