Frustrating Problem

Post by nwjeeper »

I have been using MSP for some time and have never seen this problem, I also cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it. Here is the scenario:

I am making a memorial video montage using supplied photos. I have put them together in sections then rendered each section to a .mpg ntsc dvd file.

I then load each file into a new document. The sections have a 1 or 2 second gap between them. I then over lap each one with a 3 or 4 second solid black clip to create a fade out/fade in of sections.

When scrubbed, the final photo for section 1 reappears in the solid color section in between where there is no actual immage. I can drag the color clip to Video2 line and still have the same results. This results in a flash of the image in the final file output. If I remove the color clip entirely then the problem goes away. It also happens if I leave the clips as individual photos on the timeline rather than creating each section as an .mpg file

I have used this technique in the past with no such results so:

How in blazes can there be an image where the is no image?????

Any ideas would be greatly appriciated.

I wouldn't rely on scrubbing for judging the final results. The most reliable method is doing the normal preview (with rendering, not instant preview). If you have finished the editing, you may also care to remove the files from your temp file directory before previewing, so that you are sure you can see what you will get in the end.

However, it is not a good idea to render to mpg before you have finished ALL your editing, including the transitions: quality will suffer.
