Capturing DV

I'm in the middle of Editing a movie, I used a mini dv camera to shot the dark film. I can see the images when i hook up s-video i can see the images on the screen, but when i use dv or fire wire the picture is to dark to see. Why is the lighting different with the different types of input????

With my camcorder that happens when the svideo connector AND the
DV connector are connected at the same time.
I can't plug both into the computer at the same time.

May not be your problem though.

It allows me to hook up both at the sametime, but when i enter into the capture window it will pick to use dv, but it still allows me to pick s-video....
