What you need to read is what you cannot read!!
Our lineup of popular digital media brands now includes InterVideo WinDVD, InterVideo DVD Copy, Ulead PhotoImpact, Ulead VideoStudio, Ulead DVD MovieFactory, Corel Paint Shop Pro and Corel Snapfire.
(MediaStudio, DVD Workshop and a few other 'missing items')

What I need to read is that Corel posted the message and that Corel will have better customer service than Ulead and that Corel will address and reply to reported bug reports.

Instead of "tech support knows about the bug" but don't know how to solve it or will ignore it and maybe it will go AWAY.

I don't understand why people become "supporters" of something they pay money for. We don't do it for groceries - or do you.

Well I would like to think that Corel has better tech and customer service support. However Corel has utilized "News Groups", ie massive emails for years. I don't know about you, but I have never liked trying to get help for a specific problem, having to wade through hundreds of emails. Yes I have used Corel's News Groups as far back as Corel Draw Graphics Suite 9. IMO News Groups are the "armpit" of help formats.

If Corel decide to drop MSP from the line of programs, they can forget about me.

With PI 12, DVD MF 5+ and MSP 8 I have all I need for the time being. I also have VS 10+ and am impressed with it's capabilities but it doesn't offer anything that MSP 8 can't do. I only got it as a prize in the recent PI creative image contest.

If they drop support for the pro-sumer, they will lose my business too, not that I think it will worry anyone there, I'm just stating a fact.

I have yet to see a take over resulting in something better. Hopefully I'm wrong.

There is a lot of product overlap between Ulead and Corel and to a lesser extent, InterVideo & Corel. I would be surprised if Corel continues to invest in so many similar products. Has anything been said about the future of Ulead products? What is going to get the ax? PI merged into PaintShop Pro?

As I know, Paint Shop Pro will not be merged into PhotoImpact, and PhotoImpact will not be merged into PSP too.

Check the Corel website, after its purchase of JASC PaintShop Pro, Corel still keep its image editing product line and did not kill any of its products.

Many years ago there was a good graphics program called Micrografx Picture Publisher and Version 10 was the last one I had.
I was informed that Corel bought Micrografx out and then program and the brand name disappeared completely!

Nothing was axed from the image editing line because the overlap with existing products was minimal. It fit a market segment the other products did not directly address.

It's hard to imagine Corel continuing to pay for the development of multiple code bases for products so similar. Corel is not floating in money. While the impression is no products are slated for slaughter, some will be. I wish Corel would give us a hint as to how the merger of three companies is going to affect their realignment of their product line and what migration paths are available to those products no longer supported.

I am very curious because I have an investment in PhotoImpact and MSP and wonder if it's end of the line for products I spent so much time learning.

PhotoImpact still owns a big user install base, and so does PaintShop Pro.

From my source information in Ulead, PhotoImpact will continue its development and you should still see PhotoImpact 13 in this year.

PI 13 - unlucky 13 for westerners. Hmmm will you have fixed all the reported and confirmed bugs!!!!

Heck, will you have even answered our questions?

Mr Chien, it must be difficult wearing several hats (not a personal attack) You're a Ulead Mod and I am presuming an employee as well. You have a direct link to the developers and the marketing as well.

Yet you do nothing.

Neither Mr Chien or myself are Ulead Employees but we do our best to help.
I remember when I had my first computer - must have been about 30 years ago now (note the grey hair in my pic!) it was a Dragon 32 with a whopping 32 KILObytes of memory, No hard drives in those days, no floppy discs even. Just a simple cassette tape recorder.

There was no internet and so if you had a problem with anything related to your computer or its software you had to write (and post) a letter to a computer magazine. Then you had to hope that your problem was of sufficient interest to others that the magazine would publish it with a reply.

I remember how frustrating it could be without anyone around to give you any form of help and so you had to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in and work it out.

Now some 30 years later and several computer systems I am self taught.
It gives me satisfaction when I can offer some help to others and get the occasional response "Gee thanks, that solved my problem."
