Ulead Technical Support

Post by trueblue »

Ulead technical support leaves a lot to be desired.

I opened a technical report form and duly completed and sent in the information re: EP bug (as per one of these previous posts here

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=19470
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=19159

I received email from Ulead techncian advising me to download the components from Ulead website. It is obvious he did not read or understand my email and the information therein in regard to being unable to effectively use presets added to the EP ie: imported .smp

To continually receive a browse box to use any personal presets (all installed as per Ulead instruction) is annoying.
It seems PI12 does not remember!!!

Also I advised him that PI12 periodically shuts down without any warning.

What does he ask me "What warning do I get"????????

To add insult to injury, I'm asked in my email if this answers my question or not. If I wish to add or reply to complete in the box and click submit button. However, the submit button does not work.
It didn't work last year and still not working. Help us, if they can't get that simple operation to function correctly what hope do we have for the rest.
A further visit to Ulead technical help website is required.

Needless to say, it is no wonder consumers of Ulead become irate and upset because I/we/they purchase goods that are faulty.

As Darra says below, let's hope with the Corel takeover we may have much better consumer care and non-faulty products.
I hope that someone from Corel reads this forum so they can get first hand information of all the problems with Ulead software.

Ulead...... wake up and do your job properly and stop wasting people's time and money.

Hi Maureen,

I sympathize with you, and too hope that Corel will take the lead in this. However if you are not familiar with Corel's approach, (which I think you are), they use Newsgroups in lieu of Forums. Newsgroups stink to high heaven. Having to download over 500 emails, then sift through all of them to find a reply or a possible solution..

H.T. has assured us that Ulead takes this forum seriously, and that Ulead will continue to function. So maybe there is hope. Until reading your post about this I had not noticed PI's serious Alzheimer's problem. But yes it is there. I thought that PI had just lost, trashed, or deleted my presets.

Hello Ron,

I've received a reply and it seems they're aware of this problem. I understand others have forwarded their complaint to Ulead also.
Let's hope their R&D get their heads together and come up with a fix.

As for Corel and their Newsgroups. You can always opt for a digest version, but again I do agree with you, it doesn't have the same effect as a forum.

This forum is great and extremely helpful. I can speak highly of it, I've gleaned a lot of information as there's lots of very knowledgeable people here. Often it's ourselves who are to blame for not setting our system up correctly or following procedure/instructions. However, we get there eventually.

I hope Corel do leave Ulead forum as is.... we must protest to them mustn't we, if they try to change it :)

Have a good day!

Protest we must..:) In fact when several months ago when I first caught wind of Corel's acquiring Intervideo I sent an email to Corel. Explaining the Ulead forum, and how we would like it to continue. I did receive a response, that the information will be forwarded to the appropriate personnel.

I think Steve may have also done something similar.

Please learn first about what you write.
Newsgroups carry posts, not emails (and no, it's not just another name). Maybe you mistake them for mailing-lists with Usenet gateways?
No-one forces you to download anything from newsgroups, even headers ('titles'), or even subscribe to groups. Use Google for searching (which is also better to search this forum as well).
Added bonus of newsgroups is lack of moderators with seriuos holes in basic IT knowledge.

Corel support and product development is very close to Ulead's level regarding consumer-level products, so don't open champagne yet.

Oh so Corel Newsgroups is not email, however you must use an email client. Now that's interesting. If you are splitting hairs here, then I'll say they are not web-based. In other words not like Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, etc,.. where it is web-based. I suppose you surf the internet using your email client too?

Click http://support.corel.com/scripts/rightn ... qid=754345 then scroll down to one of the newsgroups. Click on one and I"ll bet your email client opens up. To post to one, I think you need to use your email client. But it's not email? I don't care if it "carries posts" it's still the same principle...

Ron, Xyzzy is correct. Newsgroup is not e-mail. I think the e-mail client you are referring to is Outlook Express (in Vista it's Windows Mail), right? The reason why Outlook Express / Windows Mail opens up when you read newsgroup is because Microsoft made the newsgroup support in Outlook Express / Windows Mail so you can make / receive the message posts just like using an e-mail client.

Newsgroup can be read in various ways, Outlook Express / Windows Mail is just one of them. You can also read newsgroups via Google Mail or web-based interface, but it's still not a e-mail service because the reply will not be sent to your mail box.

Hope this helps.
