I am interested in the mask frames that can be applied to images in the overlay track. I can only find 14 masks to choose from in VS10+ (and most are not that useful to me).
Could someone explain in detail how to create my own masks using Paint Shop Pro X? Also, where do I place them so they can be used?
I have searched this board and read the manual but I cannot find any instructions for creating my own masks.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Woodchuck,
There are numerous PSP tutorials to be found. A Google Search revealed these possiblities: PSP Mask Frames Tutorials Results.
The center of the Mask Frame should be either transparent or a color like green that is used for chroma-keying out. The Mask Frame can be and should be saved to a format that supports alpha channel (transparency), like PNG, TGA, or GIF. Insert the Mask Frame on a video track above the track with the image. VS should recognize the alpha channel, allowing your image to be seen through the center of the Frame.

I thought WoodChuck's question was more, once you have a transparent mask; how do you use it without making it a separate overlay ( ie, in the attribute panel of the first overlay, instead of choosing Chromakey, use "overlay mask", but with a wider selection of masks¢X.
Question is where does UVS finds thiese maks and where to register them
UVS 10+, Sony Media center

Hi woodchuck
The images for the masks are here:-
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Samples\Image
M01.bmp to M14.bmp
The images use ¡¥index¡¦ as a colour mode and are in-fact Black and White images
Well they are greyscale images.
I do not know how to insert more masks but can replace the existing ones.
Using an image editor to create a new image using Greyscale. The B & W image can contain grey, the more white the more transparent.
Use Pal or Ntsc frame sizes.
When complete change the colour mode from Greyscale to Indexed.
Now save the image as M01.bmp
This will over-write the existing Mask Frame.
It may be wise to make a copy of the original M01
Unfortunately the thumbnail stays the same shape, and does not represent the new frame, if I find a solution I will let you know.
Seems to work ok
Good luck Trevor
