I am using VS 10. I have gone thru and cut up the original video file in my project into smaller pieces. They are all part of one large clip. When I put two clips in the library they look the same and have the same name when I hover.
Is there anyway of putting a identifying name on the clips in the file? I know I could go through the tedious task of saving each clip on the drive and give it a new name.
I just need to be able to identify two clips in the library that may look almost the same but are only different in there audio lets say for example... I do a lot of talking heads and I want to use just pieces and re combine them in the final video. I may have 200-300 indiviudal clips that all appear to be the same but are unique. I get them confused and they don't remain in a fixed order in the folder. The only way I now can idendentify them is by watching each one until I find the one I need.
Any ideas????
Thank you.

rename library clips
Hi
click on the library file to highlight the filename then click again
(not a double click) backspace to delete and then enter your new name, regards Ken

I assume you are dragging the clips from the timeline to the library.
Using this approach will mix up the files, very poor on the point of VS 10.
If you copy (shift+click to select)
Right click and Copy
Right click the library and paste.
The files will be in timeline order
----------------------------------------------
Inserting clips from the hard drive to library.
Using the insert folder may place in wrong order.
Highlight the clips on the hard drive
Drag the first selected file to the library.
Moving/inserting clips to the timeline has no order problems
Relates to V 10
Hope this Helps

Trevor,
That helps so much and makes a lot of sense. Is that in the online help or the manual (I have a pdf copy) ? That would be so helpful to have as a user to make life so much easier when dealling with talking heads and concerts wither there isn't much variation between frames.
Thank you so much
Carol
