program freezes as it is burning
I am using video studio 10, after i clicked on create dvd(disk) and go through the steps and when i click on burn dvd it takes almost 2 hrs. to render and then it freezes up everytime as it goes to the burning dvd portion and the top bar is stuck at 99% and it says burning dvd and my burner makes an initial sound but then does nothing and the program is frozen. it has allowed me to burn the project a few times but now it freezes every time. please help
We need a lot of information not supplied. Firstly, your system specs would be a help here so that we can see how much RAM you have, processor speed etc. Secondly, are you using the correct procedure for burning DVDs within Video Studio, or are you trying to burn from the timeline? Thirdly, what background programs do you have running in the background during your burn? Have you disabled Virus scan, screensaver etc?
Please supply all this info.
Please supply all this info.

here is the info
my system is a 6 month old HP compact dc5100 with penitium 4cpu 3.00GHz 278GHz, 504 mb of ram. I do not have any other programs running in the background and am burning from the timeline mode (going to share-create disk etc.) I have not disabled any virus scans or screen savers. Thanks for your help!

I note you say you have 504 MB of RAM. I wonder how you got such a curious amount...?
As to your problem, when in doubt, read the top sticky post containing Recommended Procedures and now Sex as well. Essentially, though, it advises you to
1) Capture in DV/AVI format where possible;
2) Do all of your editing as far as possible in the same format;
3) Once you are finished editing, go to Share > Create Video File > DVD to produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2. I think this is the step you are jumping and instead going straight from step 2 above to step 4 below. While some people use this work flow successfully, a lot of others have difficulties, so that is why we recommend that you first carry out this Step 3.
4) Once you have produced this mpeg-2 file, and ONLY then, go to Share > Create Disc > DVD, and in the burning module, insert the mpeg-2 file(s), create your menus and burn. Make sure the burning properties are exactly the same as those in your mpeg-2. (Check in the second icon in the bottom left of screen; and/r make sure the 'Do not convert compliant MPEG files' box in that icon is checked.) Otherwise, the program will try to render the file again, as well as all the multiplexing of video and audio, creation of menus etc, all on the fly, which is a big ask for any computer. This is very likely to cause some loss in quality and also open the possibility of problems such as the whole process coming to a screaming halt.
5) When burning, only use a low speed (we generally recommend a maximum burn speed of 4x), regardless of the rated speeds of both your burner and the discs you are using.

The Recommended Procedure says:and am burning from the timeline mode (going to share-create disk etc.)
Also, other burning progrm like Roxio and Nero can conflict with the Ulead burner. This is especially true of "packet burning (drag & drop) programs like Nero In-CD. (Sometimes these programs can be running in the background and you don't know it.)The most important messages in this procedure are:
(1) Always Create a Video File of your entire project before attempting to burn a DVD,
(2) Never try to burn a DVD with anything in the EDIT Timeline display,
(3) Never try to burn a DVD using SHARE/Add Project button.
