Aspect Ratio Stuck at 16:9

Post by WestbrookNH »

The drop down list box for the aspect ratio is grayed out, so I cannot change the aspect ratio.

What am I doing wrong?

VS10+ Trial Version.

Frame-based
(MPEG-2), 16:9

Well, when I dropped the resolution down to 720x480, I was able to change the aspect ratio back to 4:3.

Is this a limitation of the trial version?

Hi WestbrookNH

No this is normal.
I have tried with the full verson and it reacts the same

By selecting a frame size above 720 x*** you are selecting a 16:9 format.

When using 720 x ***, Video Studio Uses Non Square pixel rendering to produce widescreen.

Using 1920 x 1080 appears to be square pixels.
Use a calculator to work out the aspect ratio.

add/edit:- your project from VS 7 are in 4:3, trying to use HD sizes will result in widescreen, this will inevitably bring other problems when fitting your slide show to the frame.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Trevor.

I thought it was just me.

I created a small 1920x1280 MPEG file for a test, but the photos did not fill the screen.

I wouldn't mind the 16:9 ratio if I could get a full screen.

Is this just a Ulead problem?

Do other Video Editors have this same limitation?

Thanks!

Great tips!

But Nobody we know has HDTV, not here, not in Brazil, and not in Italy.
:)

I was able to render the HD MPEG file, and it looked GREAT, but the photos did not fill the screen, so I went back to 720x480.

Not as good as the HD file, but good enough for a family slide show.
