"Project" Audio distorted vs "Clip" Audi

I have inserted a Video Clip and when I view it in the "Project" mode the audio is distorted, yet when I view it in the "Clip" mode it sounds fine. I thought it would be ok after I rendered it, but it still was distorted. I tried splitting the audio and it played fine when it was just the audio, but again when viewed in the "Project" mode, it was distorted. Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem. A month ago I could download Quicktime movies with avi sound off of my Olympus digital camera and play them in project mode. Now they will only play in clip mode. I have seen this posted three times now. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
