Cannot see Music files

Post by jeffsss »

It seems that the MP3 music files I have access to are hidden in various programs such as itunes and microsoft whatever. Ulead 3 doesn't see them and I cannot even see them with windows explorer. Just the pointers to them. How can I get music onto the slide show when it all seems to be locked in various other packages?

Hi Jeff,

Assuming your music files aren't copy-protected with DRM (because DPS4 cannot use those), what you need to do is discover exactly where they are located in your computer. In most cases they are stored in a normal Windows folder, however the folder may be located in any number of places. Some media players/content providers store your files within a sub-folder of their own program directory and others use common locations like "My Music". If you perform a "wild card" search on your "C" drive using a search string such as *.mp3 or *.wma or *.m4a (depending on the format of your music files) you will be able to discover where your files are currently stored. Once known, you should then be able to navigate to your music folders through DPS4 and insert the desired tracks into your slideshow.

BTW, most media players (Windows Media Player, etc.) allow you to designate a specific folder where your music files will be stored. If you opt to use a common folder (such as "My Music") for ALL of your files from your various media players/content providers, it will be much easier to manage and locate them when needed. Of course if you do this, you might need to manually move or copy your exisitng music files to this folder.

Hope that helps!
