Corel Bought Us... Hooray
I may be one of the few people excited about the aqusition and also one of the few US users who refuses to switch to Adobe from Corel.
I have used Corel since the 2 version on 13 floppy disk (I still have the disk). I also have used MSP since version 6.5. I truley hope Corel's great support rubs off on the Ulead division.
I called Corel today and they informed me that Intervideo/Ulead will still operate independantly and the will create bundles with their new products. That sucked for news. I was hoping for some intergration with these two products. I really want to stay with these toolsbut I seem to be finding myself looking fro reasons not to switch to Avid or Vegas. I feel so lost.
What really stinks is no news of upcomming upgrades to MSP8 or the Cool3D and Video paint products. Someone please talk some sense into me. Is MSP8 going down the tubes or am I just halucinating?
I see all the new stuff they rease is for "Joe Blow consumer I got a new camcorder" people. What about us dedicated people who have stood by the crappy service since the Intervideo aqusition? We need to be heard.
Please somebdy tell me you have heard of a new upgrade for MSP8 lie if you must ...just make it convincing .... I want to live in the Matrix.
Everybody's NLE is killing mine (except Adobe Premeire... they will always suck... but they could catch up!)
Share with me your thoughts because by end January I am selling off this package on ebay for $100 (and I hope I get it) if I haven't heard of something new on the horizon. I am tired of Vegas and Avid users blowing smoke in my face with their highly advance software packages that make mine look like a booger.

Sadly enough, I'm already in the process of shifting over to Sony Vegas 7. I say sadly enough because I'm doing it more out of force than anything else. I like MSP and got into it when I bought Avid Liquid 7 and found too many bugs in the HD editing. But MSP badly needs to be expanded especially with its input/output... quite limited in this area. (I need M2T input and M2V/wav output) Hopefully Corel will take alook at this. None the less Sony is a good product and if you know MSP then Sony is not that much different.
I'll go back and look at liquid again should another patch come out... but it's been a while now and I'm still waiting.

If it has anything to do with Sony, I wouldn't touch it with a 3 m bargepole! Sorry, I'm allergic to them.
My TV (13 y old) is possibly on its last legs and my wife and I have been looking around at what is available when the dire moment comes. Sony is out of the question; possibly go for a Panasonic.

Making the switch
I think it is time to make that change............. I am in a toss up between Vegas and Avid. I really don't think Ulead will be expanding. They only seem interested in updating the consumer product. I am really angry at them but hey............. they had a good run.
It is so hard to say good-bye. Bye
Ok now............... Avid or Vegas?

Re: Making the switch
I now have both avid and vegas7.... IMO, vegas runs circles around avid. Vegas's interface is also very similar to MSP... so if you know MSP then you will catch on to the vegas basics in a couple of days. Liquid is a whole different ball game with an interface like no other and therefore takes a LOOOONG time to learn.tgill wrote:I think it is time to make that change............. And if you switch from MSP to Vegas, you will have problems scrubbing and you will miss SmartRender, especially if you edit in MPG.

I have absolutely no scrubbing problems what so ever... might you explain???Devil wrote:And if you switch from MSP to Vegas, you will have problems scrubbing and you will miss SmartRender, especially if you edit in MPG.
And smartrender works in MSP because it converts your M2T stream on capture to mpg. Vegas takes in a raw M2T right from the captue. Vegas is a better deal for those going back to tape because it does not have to be converted back to a M2T.
Please don't get me wrong... I enjoy MSP8... it's a great program and I am very sorry to have to move on. But I need a program that can capture a M2T and render out a M2V. MSP can not do this... it also falls short in a few other areas as well. Vegas is also a pretty solid program (much more even than Liquid) I am HOPING ulead sees this and gives MSP9 more options in this area... if so, they'll have me buying ulead again.
Try listening to the audio as you scrub, then try stopping at a particular sound.

I use the audio scrub regularly and have noticed nothing unusual. Maybe you are talking about Vegas7a??Devil wrote:Try listening to the audio as you scrub, then try stopping at a particular sound.
There has been a patch out for a short time now (vegas7c) which is what I am using.... no scrub problems at all.
In fact, I just did a search on the vegas forum for audio scrub problems and could not find anything really specific. Maybe it's the sound card you are using?
Vegas does work better with an ASIO compatible sound card.... I have the creative sound blaster elite pro... works well with Vegas.
