Video capturing failed. Why?

Post by mtj »

Hi, I am a novice user and trying to capture video (source: camcorder) to my laptop. The camcorder runs and displays the video on the laptop screen but when I try to "Capture Video" the following message is displayed on the laptop screen - " Failed to build an MPEG Capture graph or unable to connect to MPEG capture pin; Capturing failed; The file created is corrupt and unusable; It will automatically be deleted". Does anyone know why this is happening?
Thanks.

Hi Mtj, welcome to the Forums...:)

First we are going to need some more information. Please view This Thread, it provides a guideline to the specific information needed to help you.

Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->Image will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.

We don't know how you are attempting to capture, what device is being used, what format, and a real important piece of information what program are you using? This is a General Discussion forum. If you can tell us what sofware you are using then this thread can be moved to the appropriate forum.

Lastly it is advised to please search the forums before posting. Doing a simple search yielded the following results, "Failed to build capture graph"
