help audio delay vs8 playback

Post by twizko »

hey everyone
i ran into a problem :( ... my capture is great! all video clips (with audio) work fine outside vs8 and in editing wen CLIP is selected... but wen project is selected there is a fairly big audio delay (which is also there wen i create video files). i have tried everything to try minimize the delay but it wont work. ive tried capture in different formats changing project properties, changing almost anything and everything in the program.

please help. (b4 i end up breaking something :x )

thanks

Hi
You give little info about your capture/clip properties. (wmv-Dvd-Avi etc??)
Nor the source of capture'
How are you capturing, from what device.
VHS, Digital Camcorder

The best form of capture is via Firewire to DV format.

-------------------

You could try disabling Smart Render, from the 'options' when rendering the project (Share Create Video File)

Sorry im kinda new on the whole forum thing.
>video camera; mv800i canon
>"The best form of capture is via Firewire to DV format." the dv port on the cam broke a while ago so i started using CVBS in via a WinFast VC 100 WDM video capture card and audio through my computers sound card, i'm using the winfast through vs8

*capturing as AVI 30fps
*340x240.
*using -> Vinyl AC'97 Audio (wave) -> line in
*sound format; PCM, 44.100 kHz, 16 bit, stereo 172 kb/sec

<Project template properties>
--edit file format [Microsoft AVI files]
NTSC non-drop frame (30 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 Bits, 320 x 240, 30 fps
Lower Field First
Uncompressed
PCM, 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

i tryed disabling smart render but still no change.

(it sounds like the audio starts about a second or two late, but is normal in clip) i can normaly work out problemseasily but this one has me stuck. :?

Hi Twizko,

Some things I noticed that need changed:
*capturing as AVI 30fps
*340x240.
Are you capturing Full Uncompressed AVI? If you are located in NTSC land, then why not capture 720 x 480, unless your desired target audience is the internet?

You your frame rate should be 29.97 fps (again depending on your target audience) if you are going to produce a DVD.
NTSC non-drop frame (30 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 Bits, 320 x 240, 30 fps
Again for DVD you should be capturing to 720 x 480 , 29.97 fps.

Should have asked this first, Does your WinFast VC allow capturing to DV? if not you could try capturing to DVD compliant MPEG2. Then be real careful on making sure all your properties match. TDK4044 uses this means, and is very successful. He stresses the matching properties.

You might want to read through From Camcorder to DVD tutorial.

[Again for DVD you should be capturing to 720 x 480 , 29.97 fps.] i used to use dvd 720 x 480... but my videos came out like stripes and lines, so i went simple. but i just followed some of the things u have said and not only did u solve my sound problem, u solved many others and now i have clear higher video qaulity without the problems :o

thank you so much Vidoman :D
