vsp vs. DVD size

Post by NBHATT22 »

I experience size/space limitation when I try to burn a DVD out of a VSP project(12 GB) using create disc (DVD-R of 4.70 GB).

Is it possible to accomodate such a project on DVD by setting/configuring something?

You've not given much information for anyone to go on!

Even at the highest available bitrate, DVD compliant mpeg2 video runs to about 4.5Gb per hour of footage. I trust you are not trying to make a 3 hour long single layer DVD!

What are the file properties of your output?

You can wait for the HD DVD burner (or the Blu-ray burner). Once you get them, you can burn about 25 GB video onto the HD DVD (or BD).

However, it's still expensive to get those HD / BD burners (and media).

If you do not wish to get those HD / BD burners, then you are limited in 4.3GB (single layer) / 7.9GB (dual layer).

First tell us what format the video in your project consists of -- right click on one of the video files within Video Studio and copy down its properties here.

If it is 12 GB of DV/AVI format, then you should first render it to a DVD-compliant mpeg-2. Share > Create Video File > DVD. You don' tell us if you are in a PAL or NTSC country nor whether you are dealing with widescreen 16:9 or normal 4:3 video. But choose an appropriate template such as PAL (or NTSC) DVD 4:3 (or 16:9 which by default uses the highest bitrate setting and LPCM audio. That produce an mpeg-2 which is less than 4 GB and so, with a menu, should easily burn on a single layer DVD at the highest quality.
