Video time wrong

Post by vtrasikis »

I have the MovieFactory v4.04 and just recorded the Rose Parade. For some reason it displays that the complete length of the video is only 6.35 seconds, yet the file is 3.7GB and I can watch the complete video without a problem. Any ideas on how to fix this???

Thanks

First where are you reading the time from? The time in video is displayed as follows: HH:MM:SS:FF (Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames). So is what you posted 6.35 seconds, or 6 minutes 35 seconds(00:06:35:00), or 6 Hours, 35 Minutes (06:35:00:00).

It is stated as: 00:00:06:35

Does that help???

That tells me that the clip is 6 secs and 35 frames. However what video standard uses a frame rate greater then NTSC's?

I just loaded a video clip into DMF4, and to get the total duration you need to drag the playhead to the far right, in other words to the end of the clip. In doing so it reflected the correct duration.

Well, I tried that and the clock stops at the 6 second mark, yet the video keeps going and going and going and going....

Still better than having the clock advance and no video playing 8) Why do you need to fix this?

In order for anyone to offer any meaningful help, a lot more info is needed.

How did you record this show from what source with what properties using which devices would do for starters.

Why fix it, so that I could edit out the last 20 minutes of the video.... I had it programed to record (using Hauppaug WIN-PVR-150) for 2.5 hours, but the rose parade only lasted 2 hours and 8 minutes. With the progress bar stopping at the 6 second mark, I can't edit out what I want.

Well, that is a good reason :) . Hopefully someone with experience in Hauppauge cards will be around soon. I don't use them. It appears to me that your mpeg file needs the time stamp corrected. There are programs for that. Try searching this board meanwhile for Hauppauge. You may find that someone has had similar problems in the past.

Hi, do you install the Hauppauge device support pack for DVDMF 4 in the following link?

http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp_40.htm

After you install the support pack, you might need to recapture the video....

Hope this helps.

Tried all of the suggestions and none of them worked. Is there anyway to make MF correct the total time???? It is funny that when I start to view the video, it will keep going past the 6.34 seconds and display the video correctly, I just can't edit it!!!

Thanks

With DVDMF, the editing capablilties are rather limited. Do you have any video editing applications, such as VS? You might try loading it into a video editing program and see if you can edit it there.
