VideoStudio 8 refuses to play more than one track!

Post by alexalexalex »

Hi again, sorry to post another stupid question so soon after the other

When I import a video into VideoStudio, it works no problem. I can edit it as much as I like. However, if I split the audio file, or add a music track, or add another video clip, it all goes horribly wrong! I can't do ANYTHING with the project or the video tracks, even just play them back. I can play back audio clips by themselves, but beyond that nothing else works. Very VERY rarely I will get an error message that says "unable to access the audio codec driver".

Very confusing. Any ideas, guys?

Hi Alex,

No asked question is stupid.

We need to know more information though..

With a video clip in the Library or Timeline, right-click and select properties. Please post what they are, including audio. Then press F6 on your keyboard or go to File || Project Properties and post what those are.

Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->Image will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.

Recommended Procedures have been developed to help guide you through the mine-field of video editing, as it pertains to Ulead's VideoStudio Programs. They can be viewed here:
Recommened Procedures Updated Version

You might want to read through From Camcorder to DVD tutorial.

Also be aware that since you are using 1. VS8, and an SE version, you will not be able to use Dolby AC3 2-Channel audio. When VS was released there was a plug-in that enabled that. However It's no longer available. There are other functions that may not be possible with your version. There were several patches issued, however can only be installed on full registered versions.

Do you have a manual? If not you can get it HERE. Keep in mind that this manual is for the full version, so it may say that you can do certain things, that you will not be able to. It will give you some ideas, and guidance.

And if you happen to be inserting MP3 audio, be aware that certain mp3 codecs -- including especially Lame mp3 which I belive is used in Nero -- appear to conflict with VS. The usual solution is first to convert your added audio to the standard .wav format before adding it to VS.

That's cracked it, ken! Thanks a lot!

Also thanks Ron, for your very in-depth reply. I read through all your links earlier and I was just about to update my system info, but ken's advice was a much easier prospect :)

Everyone's so helpful on this forum!
