Whenever I go into the file menu and attempt to import files into the library and/or timeline, the "browse" window comes up--and then, about two seconds later, the entire program closes w/o any errors or sounds. The process also ceases to be running in the task manager.
I have updated to SP1.
I'm running XP Home edition w/ 1gb RAM and a 3.2 ghz processor. I'm also using videostudio 10 plus.
Any ideas?

Though not an excuse, did you have any of the conditions for which SP1 was brought out? If not, then if it weren't broke, why fix it?
I too initially installed SP1 because I had one or two minor annoyances with VS10+ that nothing else seemed to fix. Even though they weren't specifically mentioned as being covered by SP1, I thought "Why the hell not?" Then I started having larger problems. So I did a complete uninstall, then reinstalled VS10+ *without* SP1. The bigger, newer problems went away and lo and behold, one of the minor annoyances did too!

You might also want to give us more details of exactly what you were doing when trying to 'import'. Were you trying to import from a CD/DVD? If so, exactly what steps did you take? Or were you just trying to insert a video, audio or image file from somewhere on your computer into the timeline or library pane?

Well, this problem occurred before I installed SP1. To attempt to fix it, i installed SP1...should I try uninstalling it?
When I import, I'm importing from a file on my computer and trying to put it in my library. Though, as soon as i click "import from file" the browse window pops up for two seconds and then the entire program closes before I can even click the file I need.

Hi Plutox,
I'm just going to jump in quickly, and request for you to please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->
will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future. I tried reading through some of your prior problems to see if there might be something related to this. A couple of times this info could help.
Where is the video file located on your system? The same or different harddrive?

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound thick. But where do you find the command 'Import from File'? When I right click in either the Library pane or the timeline I get the options 'Insert Video' or 'Insert DVD/DVD-VR'. And I get the same options when I select File > Insert Media File (either to Timeline or to Library).
The only time I see the word 'Import' is if I select Insert DVD/DVD-VR, and proceed through the dialogues which then appear...

i apologize. I meant "insert media file" NOT "import from file."Ken Berry wrote:I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound thick. But where do you find the command 'Import from File'? Okay, I've completed my system specs except for the motherboard (which I'm doing right now).vidoman wrote:Hi Plutox,

The file is located on my E drive (the same drive that VStudio is running off of)

Where are your Working Folders set up (File || Preferences || Working Folder) ? Then in Preferences click on the Preview tab, and what do you have set there? Are they also set to your E: drive? If so you are seriously lacking some working room. 14gig is next to none when doing video editing.
You might want to review Steve's tutorial on Creating a Video Editing Profile.
I would see if any of the above corrects your crashing problems. If not I would try doing a complete un-install/re-install. Ulead programs leave a lot of files behind. So just doing a simple add/remove programs from the control panel and then re-installing may not correct some issues. Instructions can be found here : Re-installation of Ulead Products
