Hello Everyone!
I have got a Sony DVD 403 cam. The problem is that after importing the source file to Video Studio 8 no oryginal sound is available. I can add the music and comments but can't find the access to oryginal soundtrack.
I am very rookie to the subject so if you could please explain me the solution in the most easy way.
Thanks for help!
Pablo
PS. sorry for my English

There was a Dolby plug-in for VS8 which you had to buy (for US$29.95). But I seriously doubt that it is still available, since VS8 was overtaken by VS9 and 10 which both support Dolby AC-3 dual channel audio, and VS10+ which also supports Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound, which some of these cameras use.
There is a free AC-3 filter available at http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AC3_Filter which some people have used successfully. But note that it will only allow you to import the Dolby audio (i.e it will decode the Dolby audio). After that, when you process it, you cannot re-encode in Dolby, but must choose one of the other formats i.e. LPCM or mpeg-layer 2.

Ken, Vidoman,
It is true that the input sound was in dolby surround. I do not care if I will have to transform it into Layer 2 as long as the oryginal soundtrack will be available.
Once again thanks for the TIP!
Going to check the results ...
Pablo
PS. do you think that the file conversion into layer -2 before procceeding may solove the problem?

If the only problem you are having is VS8 not being able to "hear" the audio, then yes. VS8 should be able to recognize MPEG audio. To see if it is going to work, test your method on a short clip, maybe 1 or 2 minutes. Convert the audio, insert it into VS8. If it works then you can proceed with that method, if not, at least you would not have spent a lot of time troubleshooting it..
