Same exact problem after reinstall of MSP 8
Dontcry- I have updated direct X, Java, Quicktime & all drivers I could think of in addition to doing all of the suggestions here. Same problem with ONLY veditor.exe - Video Studio 9 starts & runs just fine. NOT running same hardware as Dontcry, home built machine which was running MSP8 on old drive with much more "odd software" than I am on new drive.
It is absolutely driving me crazy! I can't do anything.

Here's something to try: look for a folder with the following name -- make a backup of its contents, and then delete everything in it. If it doesn't work, then restore the backed up files (YOUR_USER_NAME is replaced with your windows user)
Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro\8.0

George

Nope, sorry George that did not do it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I am looking into starting from scratch (again). This time I will install the video editing software FIRST(after drivers & windows updates) & go from there. Then maybe trying the suggestions in the "Creating a Video Profile" topic. First I guess I should try a re-install, but that has not seemed to work for others. Say, just curious Dontcry, do you have your files set as private in windows, could this cause my problem? I only have one account for windows, but it is set at private, administrator.

Just FYI to anyone who might be having this problem, I did a clean install of XP, then all my video editing stuff, then everything else. The LAST program I installed "Windowblinds" (a piece of fluff I really did NOT neeed) is what caused my veditor.exe not to work. I will stick to my plain but working desktop theme. Hope this helps someone else. Thanks to all here

I just read the few previous posts, where Window Blinds was the cause of veditor not starting. I appreciate posting the cause of this, so that others having similar problems will benefit.
One thing that I have noted here concerning the "extra fluff" to an OS, is that the pros, experts, or the real serious hobbiests, that use machines dedicated to editing video, always have the plain or should I say the plainest jane OS there is, and do not suffer these sort of issues. I think that this really illustrates video editing requires very clean systems. They are selfish applications that have little tolerance for extra stuff. I don't have a dedicated system, however do use the video editing profile. That profile is very, very plain. It just boils down to the KISS method. Keep It Super Simple.
