help...media studio will not start?

Post by dontcryforemokid »

For some reason, all the other programs such as video capture and audio editor are working, but the video editor for some reason refuses to start. No message pops up at all, and nothing happens. i've installed/reinstalled this like 5 times and also tried to repair it before every reinstallation, and the problem persists. I'm using an HP Pavilion dv6000, so could this be the problem?

Any help would be incredible. Thanks in advace.

Hi and welcome to the forums,

The first thing I would do is try to exempt veditor.exe from DEP (Data Execution Prevention). For instructions view this post:

I should have asked this before, but the behavior seemed much like that of DEP..

Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->Image will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.

You might also try looking at the Event Viewer, for warnings and errors. Right-Click on My Computer, select Manage. In the Computer Management Window, expand the Event Viewer on the left. Then select Application and then System. Scroll through the list on the right, looking for any Red Circles with an X, or Yellow Triangles with an exclamation mark. Double click on any of them for more information on the errors. There should be some listed pertaining to MSP.

Would you by chance have the Klite Codec Pack installed? This has been know to cause problems like this. If so get rid if it.

There are several codec bundles on the market that include the dicey codecs. Which codecs have you installed?

hi
I am not sure if we are having the same problem. MSP 7.0 will not open and it fails while trying to load "Transition Effects" Sound similar?

I think vidioman is right but I cant find what codec (or lack of a codec) is causing this problem.

I suggest getting the latest DL of DirectX 9 but this did not help me. I think I am missing a codec

sounds somewhat the same, but i can't even get any sort of sign that it's starting up at all, so i don't see anything about transition effects

OK, it seems there are 2 problems here. Serf's is the codec one, have no immediate ideas for DCFEK

Yes we do have 2 different problems... I was going to split them, however I think that may even confuse it more, so I'll take this approach..

@ DCFMK,

What version of MSP are you running? MSP 7 or MSP 8? If it is MSP7, I don't think that it supports MCE. I just tried to d/l the manual for it, but Ulead's site is doing the snail. I have MSP 7 VE, and I don't believe it supports MCE. In fact I just looked at the System Requirements for MSP 8, and Ulead does not show it supporting MCE.

I did finally was able get the manual and release notes d/l for MSP7. I'll go through them to see if I can find any clues as to why it will not start..
