Menus

Post by localuser »

Hello,

I have one clip,
I made my chapters in this clip so the user can pick where to start off from.

When I load the preview menu, it will only show the current clip menu.
It does not show my chapters links in the menu, but just the main clip.

In the Curent display menu I have 2 choices.

IE Main Menu
and Family menu.

I want to render the family menu I have about 8 windows.
IT shows fine when i choose it but when i preview it or burn to cd it only shows 1 clip Main Menu and not the chapters?

Any Ideas?

Thank you

What menu template are you using, localuser?

What shows on the editing screen when you select the 'Family' menu as your 'Currently displayed menu'?

Click the thumbnail on your main menu and it will bring up the family menu.

Ok,

I select thumbnail menu,
I select my menu layout.

Now
I want to show my chapters, I have about 8.

When I go to edit.
I have 2 options in the current display menu.

Main Menu (shows only 1 clip, main clip that has chapters in it)
and Family menu where it has all the chapters displayed correctly.

When I select family, and click preview it only shows the 1 Main Menu clip.

I dont know how to make it so it has all the chapters displayed?

Help!

Thanks GS

Ah yes, I see what localuser means:

This is such standard DVD menu play behaviour that I thought localuser must be referring to editing screen behaviour.

Yes, localuser, have a look under 'Setup Menu' in the MF Help to see how menus are structured - to quote: "When you click the Clip 1 video thumbnail, it will jump to submenu #1."

Exactly so. On the Preview screen, simply click that "1 Main Menu clip" thumbnail and the screen will change to show your 8 'Family' chapters.

Is there anyway to have the 8 chapters show without clicking on the main menu?

Have a look again in the MF Help to see how menus are structured - chapters are segments within a clip, so must necessarily be accessed via that clip.

If you're wanting the thumbnails for your 8 chapters to immediately appear on the main screen, then you need to promote them to full clips in their own right, don't you?

If that's the case, go back to the first editing screen (Step 1/3), and cut the single clip into 8 separate clips (scissors symbol on far right below video display screen, or F8).

In MF5, next to the Gallery Tab, hit the EDIT tab (top left). Then about midway down the left side, hit Advanced Settings, and get rid of the checkmark next to the Add Title Menu.

Thanks
Hit the little GEAR icon on the bottom left. Uncheck "Auto repeat when disc playback ends"
