I agree Steve,

A forum where people can actually see what can be and is being accomplished with Ulead's programs I feel would help. New users to the product will get some great examples that may ease the feeling of being overwhelmed, and that the programs can do some amazing things.

The examples should be centrally located, so that it is easy to find. That's a given with any type of website. You don't want your guests/members having to spend all day just trying to find what they are after.

I too, like about everyone here, have other software and forums for help. Included with the help is a forum to share. Those forums seem to be the most viewed on the particular web boards. Where do you think the ideas of YouTube, Putfile, GoogleVideo, etc., came from? Why have they continued to grow? People like seeing other peoples work.

One concern with posting video is the bandwidth needed, and space. However thanks to hosts like those mentioned above, web boards such as this one, can now utilize the sharing. Other boards that are about Photo programs, host the files (allow uploading), because the photos do not take up much space. Again with the free hosting services, this should not be a concern here. The video clips or images, can be uploaded to them, and a linked to from here.

With any forum, or website that allows someone else to post, or add data to the server, it is a risk that spammers and scumbuckets (porno spammers) will attempt to peddle their trash. This web board has moderators that help look after that. I too am willing to keep a watchful eye on a forum where works can be shared.

Ron - so nice to see someone join this conversation! :)

So true - your comments about things needing to be centrally located and easy for users to find on any website. In the web development industry we refer to that concept as proper site flow and user navigation. It makes all the difference in how long most Internet users (savvy or new) hang around on any website.

@Steve - I've posted a holiday/winter template named 'Snowflakes' to the 'Shared DVD Menus Created by Forum Users' topic ( http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=19453 )
I tried my hand at adding an overlay this time, but it's not right. It's in the .ufo file, but doesn't render. Alas, I'll figure out overlays with more practice. The template works just fine in spite of the contrary overlay layer.

Here's a screen shot:

A place to post and store video files for sharing would be nice. In regards to moderating against possible unsavory posts/uploads, a forum could be set to not display individual posts or files until approval by a moderator. I manage and program some other forums (not graphics nor video related). From a development standpoint, moderator approval would require a database field and admin ability for the moderator. I took a look at the PHPBB site (phpbb.com) which appears to be the open source code this forum is based upon. It's quite the program for open source and seems capable.

Well, here's to hoping Ulead takes up the suggestion.

Kim,
You need to send to MediaMax the confirmation email they have sent to you.
Until you do so we cannot download your most recent DVD Menu.
The screen shot looks very good.

Ooopsss...sorry. OK, have the email verified now and the file links are working. I tested the download links myself.

Going out of town tomorrow for 5 days and won't be posting. But will be checking email during that time and have posts set to email notification.
The screen shot looks very good.
Thanks...hope you like it, or send advice if any suggestions.

A bit late with this post but just catching up with the user board after the holidays..

Thanks Steve and Kim for the work you have put into those menu's and thanks for allowing users access to them, your are both very talented people. Kim I was interested that you used PSP, that's a program I am just getting to grips with, I did'nt realise you could use it with PI12 as well.

Steve, would it be possible with the web page "Shared DVD Menus Created by Forum Users" you created, to have the "watch this topic" inserted so that anyone interested could be notified of any additions as per the tutorial pages.

Thanks again

Alan,
The watch this topic is set on an individual user basis.
Please click this link Shared DVD Menus Created by Forum Users
At the bottom left of the page you will see a link

Watch this topic for replies
(The link is too complex to be able to provide a direct link within this post.)

Thank you for the positive feedback. It's always nice to know our efforts have been worthwhile.
