I¡¦m a new user to VS10+ and have followed the recommended procedure in the tutorials to create my first DVD (PAL) from mini-DV format. When I play the DVD on a TV, the images in the menu thumbnails and the background image in the main menu screen flicker and look poor quality. The menus function correctly and the video quality of the movie is fine, it just a problem with the menu images. When I play the DVD on my computer the images do not flicker and look ok.
I have used the following for the Project Settings in the menu wizard :
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
The MPEG-2 video is also set to ¡§Lower Field First¡¨
I understand that incorrectly selecting Lower Field First ,Upper Field First or Frame based can result in a flickering picture, but I have matched this setting to the MPEG-2 video and I have also read in the forum that the flickering would only apply to moving pictures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andi
There is an ¡¥Anti Flicker¡¦ filter which may help.
Lower left icon. ¡¥Settings and Options¡¦
Quote from help files:-
Anti-flicker filter: Select to apply the anti-flickering filter to the menu pages. The anti-flickering filter reduces the "flickering" that happens when using a television (interlaced display) to view the menu pages. However, this does not help when the menu page is viewed on progressive scan devices such as computer monitors or projectors.
