Limit users can not try this product

Post by shuff1203 »

I'm trying to test out Video Studeo 10 and on Vista RTM.

I downloaded and installed the trial - then I tried to install the Vista patch which keeps complaining that it can't find the VideoStudio install and exits.

So - I thought maybe it was because I didn't reboot after the install - so
I uninstalled the VideoStudio 10 trial rebooted - reinstalled it and still got no where with the Vista patch - so then I tried just running the trial of Video Studio 10 and I get the message:

"Limit users can not try this product. You can use normally after succesful activation."

I'm running as a user with Administrator rights and I have UAC turned off.

I tried to contact support directly but the website does not allow you to contact support unless you have a registered prodcut with a serial number which I believe is REALLY lame considering I'm trying to test drive one of there products.

Any help would be greatly appricated.

Thanks.

Hi,

It may well be that the Patch is not designed to work on the evaluation version (TBYB). From the release notes:

This Update Pack is for Ulead VideoStudio 10/10 Plus (BOX, ESD, UPG, and activated TBYB) version.

Notice the word "activated".

I will be trying the patch the ESD version of VS10 on Vista RTM tonight myself by the way.

Hi,

Somethings to note:

1. The trial version now is still not Vista compatible.
2. Any Ulead trial versions can only run under Administrator account, unless you buy the activation key to activate it.
3. The Vista compatible update pack is not for trial version. If you wish to install the Vista compatible update pack, you need to buy the activation key to activate the trial to be a full version.

Hope this helps.

Well!!! Good marketing...
So, if I want to really try VS10 during 30 days with Windows Vista, I have to buy it before being able to install the compatibility pack?
How do you want to really try it in good conditions?
I'll rather uninstall VS10 trial and try other any soft really compatible with Vista.

Hi Merzhin,

First, welcome to the forum. :)

From what I understand, the future Ulead trials will be Vista compatible.

You can still try UVS 10 Trial on Vista, just turn off the UAC feature of Vista. However, some features might not work properly at the present time since it's not designed for Vista yet.

To turn off the UAC feature, select Control Panel->User Accounts, uncheck the UAC box and then select on OK. It might require you to reboot the system to make it done.
