Can't read DVD after burning--HELP
I just created and burned a DVD. However, the DVD is not recognized by my DVD player (Sony SLV-300 which reads DVD R-/+). My computer won't even recognize the DVD in my internal TDK DVD drive.
Any ideas?

How did you burn it ? - what did you burn ? - What settings did you use in UVS ? - what version of UVS are you using ? - what are the properties of the file you burnt ? - can you read the disc in 'My Computer if so what files are on it ? - do you have a DVD playing programme on your PC ? - have you tried a different make of disc ? - does it play on other DVD players ? - did you stop ALL other programmes on your PC while you where creating and burning the DVD ? - etc. etc.

I burned it using Video Studio 7. Property settings are:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Field Order A
DV Video Encoder -- type 2
PCM, 32.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
There is no settings category in Video Studio 7.
No, as I already said, I cannot read the DVD that I burned from my computer.
Yes, I have a DVD player on my computer--WinDVD.
The disc that I burned is on a Memorex DVD +R, I didn't try any others--what's the point?
No other programs were running at the time of burning. It told me that the burn was successful.
Hopefully this helps.

Of course there are burn settings in Version 7 - after you have clicked on "Share >> Create Disc" and the burn module dialogue box opens down in the bottom left corner you will see two icons, one is like a little page with lines on it and the other is a box with a tick in it. Click on the one with the tick in to set project properties for the conversion to mpeg and click on the one with lines on it to access the "Disc Template Manager" which allows you to change the settings for the burn to suit your particular needs.mikentorrie wrote:There is no settings category in Video Studio 7.

The MAKE of DVD disc can affect the succes or failure of your final disc, their are some makes which always fail for me while others give me a 95% success rate.

My project properties on this are:
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Field Order A
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: 6000 kbps
LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo
The software did convert before recording--takes up a ton of hard drive space.
So what are the correct properties? Also, what is the best brand of DVD media to use? I used DVD+R. Tech support just emailed me to suggest using DVD-R.
Why is it so unreliable?
Good advice Ken: to burn to RW disc first. Do RW discs need formatted first before using?
