P012-Invalid ac3 encoder interface cannot set MPEG parameter
"P012-Invalid ac3 encoder interface cannot set MPEG parameters error"
I am getting the above when I am trying to capture video into DVD video file. I am trying to follow the guideline (recommended procedure).
Any ideas?

Conversion has got some problems (4101)
I am using VS9, the full commercial version.
Looks like a while back, I had the same issue. I posted here back then.
The problem did not start there though.
I was capturing into DV, and then following the recommendation, did the editing, then went to share, and created the MPEG2 file. THen finally when I am burning the DVD, it gave me a dialogue box that says
"Conversion has got some problems (4101)"
I even had the same issue when I only did a very small clip.
It is only then that I decided to capture into DVD file directly, which I do not really want to do. So, can anybody explain what this dialog box means?

Re: Conversion has got some problems (4101)
It is really odd. Now I am doing some experimentation, I found out that even if I do not include any fancy stuff, such as transition, extra sound, it still gives this error. BTW, I am using DVD - R. Is that an issue?seantshen8219 wrote:I am using VS9, the full commercial version.

I seem to have noticed that some other people have had the same issue. But their situations seem not applicable to me. I am doing a very small clip with no fantasy add-on at all.
Please help
Thanks

I read the previous posts, and in one JC Hunter explained that due to a lack of a specific codec, it appeared that your install was corrupt or faulty. He recommended the dreadful re-install, to correct it. Did you do this? That error spells out a problem with the AC3 (Dolby Digital) encoder.

I did. Given the first problem I am having this time (that I describled above....the (4101) convert problem, do you still think this is a codec issue?vidoman wrote:I read the previous posts, and in one JC Hunter explained that due to a lack of a specific codec, it appeared that your install was corrupt or faulty. That is what the error message is stating. Try downloading and running Sherlock, codec Detective, http://www.free-codecs.com/download/She ... ective.htm
It will determine what codecs are present on your system, and if any of them are broken.

broken codecs
I ran the detective.
Broken Codecs
-------------
Intel Indeo(R) Video R3.2
FileName = C:\WINDOWS\system32\C:\WINDOWS\system32\ir32_32.dll
Morgan Stream Switcher
FileName =
Subtitle Mixer
FileName =
These are listed as broken. So what do I do now?
Thanks

I just done a forum search on your error message. It has been discussed numerous times. It seems that the Convert Step has got some problems (4101), indicates a bad or corrupt MPEG file. To locate the culprit requires some troubleshooting techniques, that are somewhat time consuming. Basically you go through a 50/50 approach, ie, cut your video file in half. Render half of it, and see if you get the error. If not try the second half. If you do (which you should), then cut it in half, repeat and rinse as needed until you find the problem Frames.
The other possibility is due to the Menu Fade-In/Fade-Out. Before going through the above abortion, if you are using this menu effect, uncheck it. It might cure your problem. That is a definite bug in VS10+, and I believe has been reported to Ulead. However if you find this to be causing your problem, please report it to Ulead Tech Support. The more people that report these issues (to them, not here on the forums) the greater the likelyhood of a patch being released.
It's been a long couple of days... After posting the above I just noticed that you are running VS9, not 10+. However this also was an issue in VS9, however due to just Motion Menus, or Bad MPEGs.

But it happened exactly the same way when I did a short clip
In experimentation, I did several very short clips and the same error (4101) happened every time....and they were done without any menus, transitions, added sound/music, or anything else.
I am simply stuck.

You need to install Intel Indeo video codec in order to use those clips in UVS. Check the following link to see if it works.

I did install the codec
The intel Codec was one of the 3 codecs that were reportedly broken by the "detective". So I already reinstalled the intel codec. DId not make a single bit of difference.
Also, you seemed to imply I was rendering some special clips in my previous post? No, I meant, I just captured a short section (2-3 minutes) of my video from my camcorder and try to burn that to DVD. And even that was consistently failing.
In looking at my posts several months ago, looks like I got it to burn after switching to use DVD+R. I am going to give it a try this time.
I really wish the error message could be more user friendly. Convert process got some problem? 4101? How am I suppose to make out what this is telling me.
