I really need help-See below-Need Help With Smartsound In VS
I hate to sound impatient. I had everything working great. I should have left it alone. Please see post below. I have even tried to restore all the way back to the first of this month. It tells me that nothing has been changed. I need smart sound. Do I need to try reinstalling VS 10?

Sounds like the whole thing is corrupted. At this point I would do a "clean install." Search that term on the forum and there is a tutorial bt Steve how to uninstall VS10 as well as get rid of everything it leaves behind. Then go through all you program folders and application data folders and make sure Quicktracks is gone. From memory I think quicktracks shows as a separate entry on the Add/Remove programs list so uninstall from there first.
Then start from the beginning and re-install.
Next time you want to click on something with that little thought in your mind" Gee, I wonder what this does?" try to resist the urge!
Good luck!

lancecarr, thanks for the info. I have now did a "clean uninstall" and reinstalled VS 10. I still get the message inside VS that says: "The SmartSound database could not be opened properly. Quick tracks cannot continue at this time and will close". I cannot uninstall SmartSound Quicktracks from control panel. I have got the Quicktracks installer return errors 1316,1603. I have downloaded the Windows installer cleanup utility. It will not run. I get a Script Host Message that says: Error: the specified module could not be found. I am looking for all the help that I might be able to get. Thanks again.

Have you checked the 'read me file' on the Microsoft Website

Yes Steve I have, all I get is a Windows Script Host Message that says: Error: The Specified Module Could Not Be Found. I am downloading the file from the only place that is on that page. I am downloading it to a temp folder under My Documents. This is exactly what I get when I try to run "msicuu2.exe".
Script: C:\docume~1\owner\locals~1\temp\ixp000.tmp\startmsi.vbs
Line: 2
Char:1
Error: The specified module could not be found
Code: 8007007E
Source: (null)
I am sorry, I do not know what else to say. I thank you very much.

Please click here -->
so that we can then view your system specifications.
Check the Windows Event Log for error messages:
START | RUN dialog box
%SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s
and press enter.
Now check the following two folders
Application
System
You will find a red circle with a white cross inside. Double click to open it and there you will find a link
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
This link also contains some hidden code appertaining to your error.
Double click and you will then be given more detailed information and possible cures.
Turn OFF any unecessary background programs or services that are running especially your virus checking program.
If it still fails to run, restart your computer in SAFE MODE and try again.

Steve, I know that are probably very busy. I do appreciate the help that you have tried to give me. I have updated my profile somewhat. I do not know about the mother board and all. I did try starting up in safe mode. That yeilded the same results with the same message. I checked on the rest that you told me to do and I am very affraid that I am getting into something that I really know nothing about. I have quite a few of the red circles with the white X's. I have really been trying hard to resolve this without reformatting my hard drive. Thanks again.

To cut down the number of errors you need to investigate, first of all delete the entire list (don't bother saving them when prompted)sjj1805 wrote:......You will find a red circle with a white cross inside. Double click to open it and there you will find a link

Re-boot your computer, wait until it settles down after restarting.
Re-check the error log. Follow the instructions above to get more detailed information and possible cures.
When you have exhausted this process. clear the list again and reboot again. Finally try to run the windows installer cleanup utility again.
Recheck the error log and look for more errors that may have been generated as a result of running that utility.
Sorry it is going to take some time but unfortunately thats how we have to troubleshoot broken computers. Some broken computers have taken me several hours to fix.
