Jpegs made by PhotoImpact 11 won't display

Post by andersd »

If I open jpeg picture with PhotoImpact 11 and save it to another file on a memory stick, the new picture will not display on my Digital picture frame nor will it display on my Sony TV with a memory stick reader. :(

I can take the non-viewable JPEG file into MS paint and save it to a new file on the memory stick. It will display on my TV and the Digital Picture Frame.

No editing was done in this test. The only thing that I can think that would cause this is the difference in encoding between photoimpact and paint.

I really want to use Photo Explorer 8.6 to convert the photo but none of them will display on the TV or Digital Picture Frame.

Any suggestions as to how paint encodes and can to be reproduced by photoimpact?

Did you, by any chance, save these images in PI? The default setting for saving jpeg in PI is progressive. Not many DVD players can play these and even some browsers don't like them. It's a pain to remember because PI 11, from memory, defaults to progressive every time. At least in PI 12 the last choice sticks and you only have to do it once.

That did it!

Thank you so much for your help! This is for a Christmas present and I have worked to 2:00AM last night to try to get this working. I examined the photo information in photoimpact and this progressive mode isn't listed so I never considered it.

Thanks again.
