Capture from Sony Hi8 Handycam (analogue) with DC10plus card

Post by alanchan »

I'm trying to capture from an old Sony Hi8 Handycam (analogue) with a Pinnacle DC10plus card. However, there seems to be an error since I always get the message - 'no initialization'

I am assuming that you are trying to capture using a version of Video Studio, though you don't say which. In any case, as far as I was aware, the Pinnacle cards are made to work only with the Pinnacle software that came with them. So you would have to capture with that, and then open the captured files in Video Studio for editing.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the reply. Indeed I am using VideoStudio Plus 10.

I was using Pinnacle Versions 8/9 with the DC10plus card but had problems with audio so switched to VideoStudio Plus 10 instead.

Which analogue capture cards do forum members recommend to go with the VideoStudio 10 ?

Thx,

Alan.

You are best advised to capture with the software supplied by whatever capture card you obtain. That software will have been specifically tweaked to work with that hardware.

Think of the capture module of VideoStudio as being generic (all purpose) rather than bespoke (Specific).
