HV-10 plugin won't install-says VS10 is not installed

Post by MikeS »

Hi there, I can't get the Canon HV-10 plugin to install(or the service pack) because it says VS10 is not installed,(same with the service pack). It clearly is installed and in the standard folder. It does not ask to be directed to where the program is installed, and I can't get any further.
VS10 recognizes the HV-10 and will record video from it. I can't tell if it would record differently with the HV-10 plugin installed or could it already be in the new trial download? Would it record in 1920X1080 with the plugin? It appears to be recording in 1440x1080.
I'm on a HP 7160 us laptop Windows XP home. I think VS10 runs o.k., and I've been through the HDV tutorial.
I've removed the program, installed all the DirectX and other programs before installing VS10, and re-booted, re-downloaded all the program and plug-ins. Thanks for any help. Mike S :?

If you are using a trial version of VS10 none of the plugins or service packs will install. Has to be a standard version of the software not a trial.

HV-10 plugin won't install

It would be nice if they'd tell you that. They talked like it was a fully functional version, and I needed to try it out with my HV-10 before I bought it. How do I know how it will do with HDV? Now I've wasted countless hours fooling with it. However, I do appreciate your help.

Don't give up on it too quickly. One of our members, John Hunter, is a bit of a guru on HD. Hopefully, he will jump in and be able to answer your questions. Unfortunately, I have not yet entered the world of HD, though I am sorely tempted...!

Sorry, not a guru on the TBYB version but I suspect that it contains the full functinality of the originally released version 10+, which was released long before the Canon appeared. Trial versions have never supported updates.

However, you can try out the VS10+ editor functions and the transcoding capability on downloaded HDV samples from: http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/forumdisplay ... ne=-1&f=36
The capture itself is more like a copying process and not stressful on the computer.

Sorry, I need new glasses to read these posts better!!

I assumed that you could not capture from the HV10 from 10+. Rereading, I see that you can capture 1440x1080, so there is no problem. You just edit that format directly, exactly as spelled out in the HD Tutorial.

If you want to output 1920x1080, the time to do that is after you are finished editing. There is a step-by-step procedure for doing that in the Tutoral.
