MediaStudio Pro 7.3 - Colour transition (B&W to Colour)

I'm using MSP 7.3 to edit several clips DVD Clips and want to know if there is an easy way to convert a colour clip to a black and white clip as it is moving along the timeline. I know there is a monochrome filter but am having difficulty understanding how to convert it to colour as the clip is being watched without the color distorting. I have a similar problem when using the hue and saturation filter. Any help please.

The easiest way is to copy the same clip from Va to Vb, apply your monochrome filter to Va and do a crossfade over the whole clip.
