ntcs playback moviefactory - connection
i have connected the vcr by avermedia dvd ezmaker usb 2.0.
a pal tape works fine in color.
i have also chnaged the switch at the back of the vcr from pal to ntsc/pal but that doesn;t make a difference.
i get signal = 1 with ntsc but no color.
it is composite with the white and red and yellow cable

Hi Hollandusa,
Welcome to the PAL-60 world! I've been dealing with this problem for a while, what happens is the following:
Your VCR gets the NTSC signal and turns color information into a PAL-understandable format. The main video info remains NTSC. So, what you get is: If you try to capture it as PAL, you get no video sync, if you try to get it as NTSC, you get a nice B&W picture.
So far, I have heard about three possible solutions (see thread http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=260385 in videohelp.com):
1. Get a "pure" NTSC VCR - bought in the US or something. look that your capture card can handle NTSC signals
2. Get an old video card based on the bt8xx chipset - whatever this means. I think some hauppauge cards have that chipset. You need also a freeware software for this -see the thread above.
3. It seems that connecting to a normal consumer DVD recorder has worked for some people. If you have one, or can get one borrowed, it might be worth to try.
Hope this info helps. It's quite an annoying problem, it took me a while until I found what it was.
