WHAT RESOLUTION SHOULD IMAGE FILE BE?

Post by florsapdic »

I'm trying to make a logo appear on one corner of the screen throughout my whole video. I do this by putting an image file on the overlay track and extending it from beginning of storyboard til end.

The logo has a frame. How come the horizontal lines of the frame (top and bottom) seem to disappear even if I put a perfect rendition of the logo in there? My friend who did the logo for me thinks it's because our image isn't exactly the right resolution. Do you think he's right? If so, what resolution should it be? BTW, Logo is a .png file.

Thanks.

Just a thought, is the color of the lines close to, or the same as the video background it is placed on? What size (dimensions) is the logo? Try resizing it in VS, also try right-clicking and selecting Keep Aspect Ratio, and Original Size to see if the lines reappear.

Mr. Vidoman, thanks a lot! Your suggestion actually worked! Right clicking on the image then selecting <Keep aspect ratio> and <Original size> made the horizontal lines come out as sharply as the vertical lines.

To answer your first question, yes, the logo colors (yellow, apple green and pink) stand out against the maple kitchen cabinets. They weren't just blending in...I re-sized them out!!!

Thanks again! I haven't felt this happy about VS10+ since I paid for it.

There are some misunderstandings regarding screen resolution. This is a very interesting read ...

:D
thanks a lot! the reading certainly cleared many concepts for me. but it doesn't necessarily mean my vs10+ is working as desired. now when i play video clips to edit them, the cursor just skips to the end and the video just blips by...no way i can edit them! except by looking at the audio waves and use that as basis for trimming the clip.
