We need a bit more information, both about your computer set-up but more particularly the type of video you are trying to capture. For example, are you by chance capturing from a source which uses Dolby AC-3 audio? If so, then VS 6 simply won't play it and I am pretty sure the AC-3 pack available for VS 8 won't work with version 6. (There is however a freeware program which at least will allow you to capture and decode AC-3, but it won't allow you to recode in AC-3. You would need to do a search of this Board to find the reference to it.)
Will the clip not play in both modes of Preview: Clip and Project?
Does the audio play when you play the clip in any other program e.g. Movie Maker or Windows Media Player?
