JPEG save message
Whenever I save a JPG file I have to close the annoying message box: "Saving a lossy file may cause changes to image data... etc... 800:128:530" I believe this can be toggled off. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Greencat, welcome to the forums,
How are you going about saving? Are you using Web>Image Optimizer, or File>Save As..?
What version of PI are you using? Are you saving from another format such as BMP, TIFF, RAW, PNG?
I tried several ways to see if I get that message, and I must say that I do not. I can not find anything under File>Preferences related to that.

Strange problem
Thanks for your reply. It's PI v. 6 System is XP - new, shop built system. Clean, no bugs, powerful. I've used PI for about a decade and am pretty savvy with it. I do lots of archiving and digital pic stuff. Scanning, printing - you name it. I used to get the annoying message box on previous versions of PI. With 6 loaded on Win. 98 is was gone. Hooray, I thought. Now, on XP it's back. I just checked on my old W 98 system and there's no message as I described. I thought maybe I toggled something in preferences - you know how you do something once, sucessfully, and then forget how or when you did it - but I couldn't find anything.
For example: scan a picture, save as (under file) - annoying "lossy file" box comes up, click the box closed, file is saved. Wierd. Maybe I'll uninstall and reinstall unless you or anybody has another idea.

I think the problem may be that because you are using such an old version (6 - we are currently on 12) not many users may know the answer, all we can do is pitch a few ideas for you to try that may or may not exist in version 6.
Looking (in Version 12) at
File | Preferences | General
on the dialog box that appears there is a section titled Open & Save.
One of the options that you can tick or untick is 'Display a confirmation box when saving.' - you could try that.
If that doesn't help then perhaps you need to look at this post
