After months of frustration and stacks of coasters, I think I may have hit on a solution for the audio/video out-of-sync issue so many of us have had trouble with. This has worked wonders for me. I'm using VideoStudio 7 SE DVD, so I can't say this will work for any other version.
1. Uninstall VideoStudio. Be sure to uninstall all related folders especially the Ulead Systems folder in the C:\Program Files\Common Files directory (this folder will not be uninstalled using Ulead's uninstaller nor the Add/Remove Programs feature in Windows).
BE SURE TO BACK-UP ANY VIDEO FILES YOU WISH TO SAVE BEFORE UNINSTALLING VIDEOSTUDIO AND ANY RELATED FOLDERS.
2. Re-install VideoStudio.
3. Download and install the VideoStudio program update. This will update the program from version 7.0 to version 7.01.
4. Download and install the latest CD/DVD Burning Pack (Release Date: 2003/08/15).
5. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT install any of the following CD/DVD Burning Engine Updates:
3.6.17.246
3.6.15.239
3.6.15.232
6. You should now have CD/DVD Burning Engine version 3.4.8.162 installed. To check this, navigate to the VCD/DVD Disc Image Recorder program in the Ulead VideoStudio 7 folder on the Start Menu and click on the Ulead MMC CD/DVD Writing Plug-in button.
I have been religiously following the instructions in the thread titled "PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING A PROBLEM ON THIS FORUM" within this forum and I have yet to burn a coaster. I believe there must be something wrong with the newer versions of the CD/DVD Burning Engine, so I'm staying with this "fix" for now.
Good luck!!!
Audio/Video Sync Issue Solved?

Hello,
I hope this message will be also useful for other.
I constantly had the Audio out of sync problem when burning DVD in NTSC format.
I used VS7.0. I noticed that burning with PAL/SECAM was always working fine, but not burning with NTSC format... unluckly, my DVD player did not read the PAL/SECAM format.
I tried to install all latest patches + DVD Burning packs... no success... I constantly made sure to delete all contents of temporary file (\Burnt \Convert...)
I did not defragment my HDDs.
My system is an HP Workstation xw8000 with dual 3.0 GHz Xeon processors, 6 GB RAM and 450GB mixed IDE / SCSI HDDs.
I have a nVidia Quadro4 980 XGL.
I spent quite a few time reading the different messages talking about the subject and did the following:
- Uninstall VS7.0 + all its corresponding files put all over the place
- Remove all entries in the registries (regedit.exe / search for the word 'ulead')
- Download free trial version 8.0 but did not take any patches
- Uncheck the Smart Rendering Option
- Keep Audio option as LPCM and not MPEG
And finally, it burnt under NTSC format properly
Some of my files are by the way > 1GB.
I am planning to buy the version 9.0 to be available in 1-2 months.
Question: last year, I burnt a DVD in PAL/SECAM format, I do not have the source anymore, is there an easy way to convert it to NTSC?
I hope this message will be also useful for other.
