Failed to build prewiev graph

Post by ostech »

Good day all,
I have recently installed vs10+ I am used to working with vs 7 & 9 but never with firewire. The captioned message is what appears on the screen every time I try to capture. The software controls the camcorder ok but when I select capture a message says "unable to switch to capture mode - check if your capture driver is working properly"
Computer: Celeron 3.02, 1GB ram, speed 400, hd 200GB. Fire wire card.
Must admit I have not uninstalled versions 7 & 9, Could this be the problem. I have used the suggested preferences found on the forum.
Some help please.

G'day ostech!

Try searching the forum - this is a not uncommon problem.

Check out this thread, for example.

I had this problem and I think it was due to me installing VS10 BEFORE I uninstalled VS7.

I completely uninstalled VS7 and VS10 using the uninstall procedure for ulead products (found on this forum below) and then done a clean install of VS10. I then had no further problems.

Ostech..You can solve the problem permanently by following the wise advice of our elder sage forum gurus of the video editing world...or for a lazy solution do as I have done..... I just shut off the camcorder and turn it back on..then try capturing again, and the message is gone.
