how to save "burn" layouts?

Post by jmcm »

Once I load the VSP files, get the chapters set up right, fix the menu appearances like I want them, I can't find a way to save it before burning!

You will be asked if you want to save the project after the burning is complete.

Thanks for the reply! Maybe I should back up.

I'm burning by using the "share" step in VS10 inside of a previously empty "project". I load my (in this case, 2) VSP files and then go about naming chapters, setting music, background images, etc. After burning, the project is saved, but the "share" tab seems to launch an un-linked process to set up the menus.

How can I save the menu template?

Also, it seems to limit the chapters per menu page to 3. Can I put more than 3 chapters on a menu page?

Thanks for the help! I'm trying to get this done for a Christmas present. I'm almost there!

Sorry I can't be of much further help here. I don't use VS often to burn projects, I do that in MovieFactory 5 plus.

Jmcm,
You are using a workflow that has caused many problems for many users (selecting projects in the BURN module). Recommended procedure is to create DVD compliant video files for every project and then select these in the Burn module.

VS10+ will save your DVD chapter settings in an unnamed project file that will be restored the next time you select SHARE/Create Disk.

Hi jmcm

After creating your menus etc
Close the burner module.
VS will indicate saving the project, this process seems only to save the burner info back to the empty project. You have now returned to the edit timeline.
Now save the empty project, giving it a name. ¡¥File Save As¡¦

The next time you open the saved empty project, go to Share Create Disc, all the menu settings should be there.

What you should not do is Re-edit the files used in the burner module.
This will cause problems, including loosing some or all of the chapter points.

Note:- Using Thumbnail menu's will allow more to a page.

Hope this Helps

Trevor
