Some Chapter Entry Frame #s Exceed the Total Frames &upd

Post by Gabbon »

Hi,

I am having the "Some Chapter Entry Frame Numbers Exceed the Total Frames" error coming up every time I try to burn a project that uses PAL camcorder video and joined clips. Very frustrating.

I heard that the update for moviefactory 5.0 clears this problem up, so I tried the first portion--"DVD MovieFactory host patch" (I'm on dial-up, so this took me many hours to download). This does not seem to work.

Can anyone tell me whether I will find help in downloading the other two patches. They seem to be irrelevant for the problem & will probably take me the next two days to download (I do so overnight).

In addition, if anyone has any suggestions how to get around this problem, I'd be glad to hear it. Presently my projects are write-offs.
Thanks.

It could be a smart a*se and recommend not to set chapter points for frames that don't exist.

Instead I will ask you to provide us with the necessary detail to base any advice on.

Have a read of this http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8960 and follow through with the instructions given.

Fine:
Input files:
PAL DV (25fps, 720x576, PCM 48000)
from a panasonic NV-GS400 cam (straight capture of clips, no frames dropped)
I have about 25 files, which run to a total of 1 1/2 hours

Project settings:
PAL DVD, GQ (4000kbps, I have tried 5200kbps, Dolby sound) 4:3
I have the codecs installed for the DV files

Again, I thought installing the "DVD MovieFactory host patch" would do the trick and fix the "Some Chapter Entry Frame Numbers Exceed the Total Frames" error, but so far, no luck.

As I said, I am on dial-up, so download takes a long long time. I'll try downloading the other two patches, but they seem irrelevant.

Is this the only thing I can try?

And yes, I can join my DV so I don't need chapter points, but that will take who know's how long, and then I will still like to manually insert chapter points. Joining clips is a very convenient way to do this, but that is where DMF fails.

Ps. I have done nothing to insert chapter points so far but join the clips, and since joining, I have not edited the clips. I know of no reason why chapter numbers could exceed the number of frames used...

Thanks

I have never had your kind of problem, mabe because I do not capture to mpeg at all from my GS 400. I also do not use DVD MF for the capture either. I do all that in MSP, edit my footage there and create one mpeg file for my DVD. That I take into DVD MF to author my disk.

I suspect the mpeg files are to blame. I know it takes longer to capture to DV-AVI and later render an mpeg file from it but it should be worth a try.

You can try to check the captured clips if need to recover possible lost audio and video data , press the button located [Delete] button below.
