Can't open a project in VS9 that was created in VS10 Help !

Post by golo »

The title says it all.

I had originally created a project using the trial version of VS10 from the Ulead website. I have since purchased a new copy of VS9 from Ebay.

When my software arrived, I removed VS10 from my PC and installed my own VS9.

Yikes !! I can't open the exising .VSP file that I had created using the VS10 trial.

I need this project up and running and don't want to go back to the trial version of VS10.

Somebody please. :(

Like many programs, VS is backwards-compatible, not forward compatible. In other words, I am afraid that while VS10 can open project files from earlier versions, those earlier versions (in this case VS9) cannot open a project created in VS10.

Its like a cup and a bucket.
VideoStudio 9 is the cup, VideoStudio 10 is the bucket.

You can pour the contents of the cup into the bucket - not a problem.
If you try and pour the contents of the bucket into the cup there's too much water and it spills everywhere.

One may have lost a feather, I'd check the videos.

Maddrummer will be performing at Funny Bones this weekend...

Could this work?

Would it be possible for our friend golo to send a copy of the (relatively small) VS10 project file to a VS10 user, to save as a VS9 file? There would obviously be file re-linking issues, but if it was possible, it might still be less work overall than rebuilding the project from scratch in VS9.

And Jeff -- regarding Maddrummer's amusing responses, I suspect he may have been putting rather too much brandy or whiskey in his Christmas cake!!  8) :?

Thank's for the response's guys. I should have saved the project as a VS9 project.

No use in sending the project to a freindly member. The project is huge !!

Thank's any. I've recreated the project from scratch in VS9 and am quite happy with the results (not as many crashes).
