audio trouble
I'm having a problem capturing audio. I have a SURE mic adapted from XLR to stereo plugs. When I try to capture with it I get a "no input signal or signal is unclear" message.

Is it a stereo microphone or a mono microphone ?, have you checked that the connections on the XLR adapter match your microphone ?, how are you connecting the stereo leads (RCAs ??) to your computer ? or are you using the microphone or line-in mini-jacks on your PC ? , have you enable 'microphone' in your windows RECORDING control panel ? do you record sound when capturing a video or is it only the microphone ? do you know if the microphone actually works - have you tried it in another application ?, etc. ?? etc. ??

If your using the XLR adapter that adapts the mic from the 3 pin XLR to
the 1/4" phono or 1/8" mini you will need to try connecting the phono
jacks to the mic input of your sound card. The mic inputs on soundcards
are very poor amplifiers and clip so I would recommend to try the following:
Depending on how your getting the video and audio into the computer
via a capture device you should connect the mic to a pre-amp first.
Then out of the preamp to the capturing device or Line-In of the soundcard.
You can also set the pre-amp to output the mono sound from the
microphone to stereo (panning).
A XLR/Phono adapter is usually only an impedance matching device.
It performs no amplification at all. Use a pre-amp for best results.
