capture Driver
I do not have a camcorder. I am using the out terminals of my VCR to my line in and USB2 to capture VCR's that I want to make a DVD from. However I uninstalled and reinstalled thinking that it would help however I still get the same message about needing a driver if I knew where to go I would get him myself.

Which version of MF are you using? Do you use the launcher to start MF? How do you get to the capture module? Did it ever work? What is the capture device you use on the USB port?
Sorry if I ask silly questions here but I have never used DVD MF for capture and I don't capture analog video the same way as you do.
I usually get this error if I go to capture in any Ulead capture module without having something connected or with the wrong device control active.

Strange... Soundcard drivers are fairly standardized.
I'm never surprised when a particular video capture driver won't work with some particular software... For that reason, I always recommend that you use the special capture software that came with your capture device. I assume that your USB capture box came with it's own software. Even if you got a "free" SE version of Movie Factory with your hardware, the capture function can be "hit or miss".
Once you have a digital video file on your hard drive you can use Movie Factory to make a DVD.

You told us you have onebrianht wrote:where do I find the capture device, there were 2 discs No 1. is DVD Movie Factory 4SE, the other is "DVD Maker USB2 and when I insert the DVD maker it replies that "we can't find any USB 2800 devices on your system. where do i go to get one of these.
Are you using the MF version that came with your device? Does your system recognize other devices plugged into the same port you have this capture device plugged into? Does XP recognize the device when you activate it while connected?

ports
I am sorry but all this seems to be greek to me, prior to my getting a new sound card I was in the process of transferring VCR's to DVD. but as for ports and things I have no idea. I guess I like a lot of others I plug something in and expect that it will do the job that I request of it or expect of it. :? and this is a 1st for me to use an Emoticon??

I guess you were just lucky that your gizmo worked the first time. I don't think that your current problem has anything to do with your soundcard as such.
Now, in order to give any meaningful advice, I guess that's what you are after, we need to know how exactly you connect your devices and which steps you take, error messages you get, etc. when attempting to capture from your device. It is no good for us to imagine what you have connected and how.
I assume this:

I assume this:
- 1. you plug in your capture device to a USB port on your PC, right?
Q. does the OS indicate that a new device has been connected when you switch it on?
2. you are using the software that came with your device to capture, right?
Q. does this software see your device connected?
