Changing Burn Speed in VS 10
Recently upgraded to VS 10. Have been constantly getting dvd burn failures whether I burn directly from VS or create an image file and burn using the Uleads burner program. I tried everything I could think of and read on the forums. The final thing that worked was to burn my image file using NERO at a much slower rate (2.4x). What I need to know is how I can change Ulead VS' default such that it will burn at the slower rate. The only options I can find when I go to burn from Ulead is MAX or 8X. However, the burn never works at those speeds. Any help would be apprecaited.

The burn speed options presented to you vary according to the disc you have in your DVD tray, if you check the burn speed option with no blank DVD in your tray you will see a full range from 4X to Maximum - but as soon as you put a disc in the options change
So to choose a lower burn speed - change your blank media

To set a lower burn speed in Windows XP, go to My Computer, then right-click on your DVD/CD burner drive, and choose properties. A Tabbed dialogue box will open. Select the Recording tab. There should be 2 pull-down menus, the bottom one will have various burn speeds from Fastest to possibly 1x. You can set it to the Minimum speed you would like the burner to use. I have mine set at 4x.

It is possible there are some differences in computer set-ups then - because if I do that on by DVD writing drive - that 'Recording' tab asks me how fast I want to burn a CD (not a DVD)
In fact under that 'Recording ' tab I have a box which is ticked against "Enable CD Recording on this Drive" - if I take the tick out of that box all the functions under the 'Recording' tab are grayed out.

Well, I burned a DVD yesterday, from a DV-Avi project, straight from the time line, with a smart menu and, when I inserted the DVD-RW to burn this test DVD, the burn speed changed to Maximum. Clicked on "Burn" and the speed changed to 2.4x.
The project plays in my DVD players with no problem. I also created an ISO file from the same project afterward, no problems with that or burning it in DVD MF 5+ or Nero.
There must be something with your particular set up causing you grief. Which other burning programs have you installed? any packet writing modules with those like InCD?
