I'm new to video editing and have a basic question I cannot seem to get an answer for in the manuals and trying things out. I want to have a section of titling inserted before my video clip - like 5 seconds of black screen background and then a title or maybe a couple of titles for information to be displayed before the video.
I can't for the life of me figure this out. I found a video clip sample that seemed to be several seconds of black screen and inserted it in front of my original video clip.
Then tried to add titling to that clip and it crashes Video Studio 10 every time.
What is the recommended procedure for doing what I want to do? Should I just record several seconds on my video camera of nothing (lens cap on) to get this black video that I can overlay a title on???
How do other people do this?
Simple editing question

Black lead in.
Go to the "color" drop down and pull down black onto the timeline before the start of your video. You can then use either the right yellow bar or the duration box to set the duration of this color block (I think the default is about 3 seconds). You can put your titles over the top of this black background and use the FX cross fade to go to the start of the movie proper.
Hope that helps.
