Security format is invalid or has been modified ??

Post by Ajay »

Hi, I downloaded Videostudio 30-day trial 3 days ago to test it out. I was doing well and was impressed with the software apart from the fact that it hung a few times ??

The last time it hung I had to reboot my PC, but when I tried to run the software it came up with "The security format is invalid or has been modified. The program has been terminated". I tried unistalling - reinstalling etc etc but its still the same ???

I wouldn't mind now buying the license as it looks very good, problem is I can't even run the software to enter the code ???

Could anyone provide a solution to this as I have tried contacting Ulead techical support 3 times and still no feedback from them.

Thanks
Andy.

Hi Ajay,

To save you some possible headaches in the future, Do Not buy the unlock key for a TBYB (trial) version. Just uninstall it, then purchase the full version. You can choose to buy the boxed or download version. If you own another version of VS then you may qualify for the upgrade price.

The reason we recommend against unlocking the TBYB, there have been several posts where people experience problems with the patches, SPs seeing the unlocked TBYB as a full version, and will not install.

Thanks...I have done a search on the Forum and it appears a number of people have the same problem !!!

If Iam correct, if I do the following it should be ok....

unistall trial version
Buy Boxed version
install Box version.

Will this work ok as Iam a bit nervous about this.

Thanks
AJ.

Yes it should..

Ulead programs leave a lot of files behind. So instead of doing a simple un-install from the control panel, do a complete clean uninstall. You can follow the instructions on uninstalling here: Re-installation of Ulead Products

You may not have to worry about that. It is geared more toward those having problems and need to get a clean install. I didn't experience any problems, when I uninstalled the trial versions.

Vidoman is right, the complete and utter uninstall is/may be needed if you have problems with a program which don't go away with a normal un-/re-install or a repair installation.

Having said that, there is something peculiar about your problem. Have you checked your hardware like HDD's, memory, etc.

It may also be advisable to reinstall all the mobo drivers that came with your system and the video and other add on card's drivers.
