PI 12 Problem with 1:1 in white balance dialog window

Post by stephan_bock »

When I have a picture open and try to get the white balance corrected (Photo>Color>White Balance), I cannot correctly get a 1:1 with the "1:1" button under the dual view. The picture gets only enlarged slightly, maybe 10%. The + Zoom button shows, that the whole function seems to work on a lower resolution version of the window.
This is annoying since I cannot precisely pick a white spot in the window with the eyedropper. I didn't see this problem in PI10 or 11 either.
Some other dialog windows show the same weird behaviour, some work fine.
Does anyone else have this or is this a problem special to me?
Thanks
Stephan

I don't have this problem, but have you tried panning your photo? In the Right window, your cursor should turn to a hand. Just drag the window to reposition and locate a spot to sample. Then in the left window pane, the cursor should be the eyedropper..

Thanks vidoman, but it really doesn't work for me. When I start the dialog window, it shows the picture fit to the dialog windows (left and right). Then I press 1:1 under the left window and the picture just enlarges a tiny bit. Not even close to 1:1. If I then go to the right window, I see the hand that you described, but it doesn't help because the picture is not enlarged much, so panning doesn't really do much. I can only pan 10 pixels or so in either direction.
I am wondering if it might be related to the picture itself. It is an 8MP jpg from a Canon digital rebel XT. Maybe I could send you the image and you see if it shows the same behaviour for you?
Thanks
Stephan

Edit: I don't think it is related to the picture file. I found some old 2MP pictures taken with another camera and they also don't work. Very strange, because the 1:1 works fine, for example, in the levels dialog which has a similar layout to the white balance.
