Hi,
I own a Kodak Easyshare 7430 which produces .MOV files for me to deal with.
I have tried to make a few dvd's of different clips, but keep running into the same problem. when you try to play each clip it sticks on the first frame which stays on screen until the next clip begins and the first frame of that clip then freezes on screen etc.
I have searched the forum for help and workarounds other than converting every file to AVI ( as I may have upwards of 400 files saved ) but to no avail.
Is there a particular codec required for my camera? or one in general for kodak? I'm not very clued up as far as codecs go, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, which version of MF are you using? Have you installed the update patches for your version?

Hi SmurfanCoke
I never had problems working with MOV files with Movie Factory 5
But at the end, when i converted to .iso, there was no sound
so i recomend you to convert it into an AVI file
Now people says that an AVI file it has more mb/gb than a MOV file
Well it's not true. what i did i convert my MOV files to AVI with a program named
WinAVIVideoConverter
Is a user friendly program, and almost all my MOV files where around 1GB, and converted to AVI was around 40MB
The sound was great, and the video excelent.... i had probably around
10 different Videos on the DVD that i created.
I created the DVD and now my whole family can enjoy it on their DVD player without a problem at all....
Now i the case of CODEC's
your camera should come with a software, that installing it, it should install all codec's need it.. if still doesn't
I have a Program that install every Codec need it for any type of Video Maker Program
I Hope i helped

I'm using MF5 plus, but it is only the trial version, I wanted to see if it would do what I want before I purchased it.
I also have the Nero 7 suite installed, it would'nt be causing conflict, would it?
I have managed to burn two dvd's containing slideshows with pictures took with the camera, but the videos just wont work.
Like I say, I go to Add video, open the folder, pick the file, it loads and I can see the video in the preview box.
If i press play it just stutters the first few frames then nothing, if I hold SHIFT and press play, it plays the video but the slider scoots to the end of the file not in sync with the video.
Then when I burn it it burns fine and the menu loads in my dvd player but when i press the play button, up comes the first clip and freezes at the first frame etc.. but it's not the dvd locking up because I can still go back to the menu

I have an Easyshare P880, and have played around with the video aspect. It also records to the MOV format, which in my case uses the MJPEG codec. I have inserted, edited and rendered in VS10+. I was able to do this prior to the MOV patch being released. The reason I believe is, that when I installed the Kodak Easyshare software (should come with your camera, or you can download it from their site), it installed the MJPEG codec. VS apparently sees and uses this. I have not tried this in DMF, but if I get a chance I might.
So if you have not (and I know several Kodak camera owners, like myself, that do not like it) try installing part of the software that allows transferring data from your camera to the PC, and see if it clears this up.
