Are you following the Recommended Procedure? If not, give it a try and see if that solves your problem.

When you say the disc is "ready to burn after 5 hrs of rendering", this implies to me you are not following our Recommended Procedure (contained in the top sticky post on this Board). It suggests to me that you have edited your project, then gone straight to Share > Create Disc > DVD. This means that the video will be rendered to DVD-compliant mpeg-2 format during the overall burning process which is complex enough on its own. If your computer is not overly well resourced, it may just give up the ghost when tasked to do this extra complicated procedure as well as the actual burn.

Instead, after finishing your editing, you should go to Share > Create Video File > DVD (Note: DVD, not mpeg-2). This will then do the rendering of the DVD-compliant mpeg-2 file. When it is complete and the icon for the new file appears in your library pane, close your project. With an empty timeline, you can now go to Share > Create Disc > DVD. Insert your DVD compliant mpeg-2, create your menu and burn either direct to disc or to a DVD folder or ISO image file.

But read the detailed Recommended Procedures first...
