Still images blurry

Help! I made a powerpoint intro page for my DVD presentation and saved it as a jpeg. When I placed it in front of my video clips, it plays the image and the words appear blurry. I have tried to run it as multiple clips at a slow speed ( 0.5 sec) and this has not helped. Any ideas?
